Project Update (10/1/2021)

The boring program, necessary for the design of proposed retaining walls and the underpass at Alexander Avenue, has been completed. The next step in the design process is to finish the Geotechnical Report, which will be used to complete the preliminary design. The 25% Design Submission plans and documents are scheduled to be submitted to MassDOT on October 29, 2021.

The Belmont Community Path Project Committee is planning to hold a Public Information Meeting on November 4, 2021 to present the 25% Design Plans. Specific meeting information will be posted as it becomes available.

Project Update (7/13/2021)

Our geotechnical engineers have completed their coordination of the proposed boring program with Keolis and the MBTA. The borings are scheduled to begin July 20, 2021. Boring information will be used to complete the Alexander Avenue Underpass design and the design of new retaining walls along the proposed Community Path.

Project Update (5/6/2021)

Project Update (5/6/2021)

You may have seen our survey crew along the railroad tracks during the last month. We have been obtaining additional survey information including trees and railroad utility locations necessary to advance the preliminary design.

The Design Team met with the MBTA last month to discuss the proposed Community Path design and our proposed construction methods for the Alexander Avenue Underpass. We are adjusting the preliminary design plans to incorporate the comments we received from the MBTA.  We also recently met with several abutters on Brighton Street and Pleasant Street, and we are modifying the design based on the feedback we received at these meetings.

Our geotechnical engineers continue to coordinate the logistics of the proposed boring program with Keolis and the MBTA.  The borings have been scheduled to begin during the first week of June.  Specific boring locations still need to be reviewed by Keolis and actual dates for accessing the MBTA Right-of-way are dependent on Keolis flagger availability. Borings are required to complete the Alexander Avenue Underpass design and the design of new retaining walls along the proposed Community Path.

Project Update (2/16/2021)

Project Update (2/16/2021)

We have been working with the Town and the Community Path Project Committee (CPPC) to refine the preliminary path design to incorporate comments received from abutters, the Town, and the CPPC.

You my have seen our survey crews along the railroad during the last few weeks. They have been gathering additional survey information that is needed to progress the design, such as tree sizes and additional information behind 7 Channing Road.

Our geotechnical engineers received the executed entry license agreement from the MBTA on Wednesday 2/10. They are now working with Keolis to schedule flaggers so they can access the railroad property to conduct the borings required to complete the Alexander Avenue underpass design and the design for new retaining walls along the proposed path alignment.

CPPC Public Meeting Recap: July 16, 2020

On Thursday evening, July 16th, 2020 the Community Path Project Committee (CPPC) held a virtual meeting to provide a project update and present the 25% design progress to the public. This meeting was also an opportunity for community members to react to the progress plans. If you were unable to attend the meeting, a copy of the presentation is available for download, along with the design plans, and a forum to share your feedback until July 31st. The Nitsch team will then use the received feedback to fine-tune the 25 % design plans before submitting them to MassDOT in Fall 2020.

Belmont Community Path Survey

Belmont Community Path Survey

Hello! Thank you for visiting this site. Welcome to the Belmont Community Path Survey, which should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

This survey draws from information collected in previous studies of the Belmont community path, and on what we heard from the CPPC, Town Departments and project stakeholders. The goal is to collect additional information that will inform our design moving forward.

Before taking the survey you should ideally look at the draft 25% design files, which are accessible via this website.

The plans will help you to better understand the state of the project as you proceed through the survey.

You may also leave a comment. The survey will be open until July 30th. Comments and survey answers will be shared with the Town and the CPPC.

Thanks for participating!
